AVANTGARDE Subbass, RESONA, black
Avantgarde - the clever sub-bass recorder - in black. Pure elegance. Since 2007, the Kunath Instrumentenbau workshop has been producing parts for woodwind instruments using a special 3D printing process. The primary goal was to use a material that sounds like wood and is made from renewable raw materials, and as there was no material on the market that met these requirements, the team at Kunath Instrumentenbau, with the support of the Ministry of Science and Research, developed its own material: RESONA. Renowned artists such as Dorothee Oberlinger and composers such as Josh Plotner use instruments made from RESONA in live concerts and studio recordings. Since 2022, Kunath Instrumentenbau has been producing more electricity in its own solar systems than the company needs annually, and the machines that prepare the material for printing and the 3D printers run 24 hours a day. At night, they are supplied with temporarily stored solar power from a 100 kWh battery. For these and many other reasons, Avantgarde is considered the new benchmark for sub-bass recorders. The overblowing key Herbert Paetzold invented the automatic overblowing key over 40 years ago, and with Avantgarde we are making this practical mechanism available to you for the first time on a "non-cornered" bass recorder. The special advantages of the overblowing key: on the one hand, it makes the left hand more relaxed, as the thumb can move closer to the position of the other fingers; on the other hand, the overblowing key makes it easier to play high notes and octave leaps; a small movement of the tip of the thumb is enough to reliably activate the overblowing hole. Video about the overblowing key Scale The inner bore of the recorder is cylindroconical. This type of bore gives the instrument its powerful sound. In principle, recorders with a wider bore sound warmer, fuller, more fundamental and therefore more suitable for ensembles than instruments with a narrower inner bore. The cap As RESONA is extremely dimensionally stable, AVANTGARDE recorders do not suffer from jamming of the cap due to moisture. To ensure undisturbed airflow between the blowing tube, cap and windway in the head, AVANTGARDE has a new type of connection between the cap and head. The cap is perfectly fitted or removed with just half a turn. Video about the Quickfit cap What styles of music can the recorder be used for? RESONA is predestined for all styles. Avantgarde is 40% lighter than normal sub-bass recorders because it is made from RESONA using a 3D printing process optimised for musical instruments. The sound of these printed instruments is compared by professional players to that of Kirschbaum. Who is this recorder aimed at? Avantgarde is aimed at amateurs, semi-professionals and professional players. The windway of the recorder The windway is the area in the head of the recorder where the musician's blowing air is moulded into a thin sheet of air. This sheet of air is the defining element of a recorder's sound, and the vibration that generates the flute's sound is created from the sheet of air at the labium. The shape of the windway is therefore very influential for the artistic usability of the recorder. The model 6605-072-AS from Kunath Instrumentenbau has a windway that is curved and conical in shape.Conical windways accelerate the air blade more than cylindrically shaped ones. Windways are naturally very complex in their design and many parameters are influenced by each other. Fingering The AVANTGARDE 6605-072-AS recorder is supplied in the following fingering: Baroque fingering. Keys It is not always possible to drill tone holes in places in the body of the instrument that are easy to reach with the hands. For tuning reasons, tone holes on low instruments in particular are located in positions that are not ergonomically accessible. On such instruments, key mechanisms are fitted that make playing considerably easier or even possible in the first place.Six rollers make it particularly comfortable to play double keys. The key mechanism is made of brass. Stand Is included in the scope of delivery. The highlight: The bell of the inner bore is bent forwards so that the instrument does not have to be moved to a different playing position. It can be played standing up on the stand. This is clever and safe. Packaging and accessories The instrument is supplied as standard with a bag and matching accessories: Case with wheels, instructions, cork grease, fingering chart Podcast about the instrument The instrument has its own episode Avantgarde on Blockfloetenpodcast.eu

JADE F-Bass, RESONA, knick bass
General information The recorder from the JADE series with the model designation: 6420-02 built by Kunath Instrumentenbau is an instrument that always gives pleasure when playing. This special feature is due to the clever combination of the unique construction concept and the expressive possibilities of the cherry wood material used. The unique qualities of the material used for this instrument are inspiring. The special features can best be described in the following words, whereby it is in the nature of things that sounds can only ever be described very inadequately with words. For this reason, the details of the sound typical of recorders are perceived and described slightly differently by each person: Wooden and warm. The scale The inner bore of the recorder is cylindrical and wider. This type of bore gives the recorder its typical sound. In principle, instruments with a wider bore sound warmer, fuller, more fundamental and therefore more suitable for ensembles than models with a narrower scale. What music is the recorder best suited to? Cherry wood is ideal for instruments used in folk music and for beginners to recorder playing. Who is the instrument aimed at? As a result, cherry wood recorders are particularly suitable for ambitious amateurs and advanced players. An additional rule of thumb is that a high-quality instrument naturally makes learning easier than a seemingly inexpensive instrument. The windway of a recorder The windway is the area in the instrument headjoint where the musician's blowing air is moulded into a sheet of air. This air blade is the basis of the instrument's sound production. In interaction with the labium, the air blade creates the vibration that generates the flute sound. The shape of the windway is therefore extremely important for the recorder's ability to create music. The model 6420-02 from Paetzold by Kunath has a windway that is curved and conical.Conically shaped windways accelerate the air blade more than cylindrical ones. Due to their design, windways are extremely complex and many parameters interact. Fingering The JADE 6420-02 model is manufactured in the following style: Baroque fingering. Keys It is not always possible to place tone holes in places in the body that are comfortable and easy to play with the fingers. For tuning reasons, some tone holes on low recorders in particular are located in places that are impossible to reach. On such instruments, the instrument makers fit key mechanisms that make playing considerably easier or even possible in the first place. The 6420-02 instrument has the following keys: Comfort keys on the middle joint. This means that it can also be played comfortably by players with smaller hands. The key shape is unique and legally protected. Especially in Taiwan and Korea, these models are often used in youth ensembles by internationally renowned teachers for young players. But even adult players with small hands will not want to miss the advantages of the comfort keys on the middle joint once they have got to know them. Multi-piece construction The construction of a recorder has a fundamental influence on the way in which the woodwind instrument can be easily assembled and safely transported during use. This is particularly important when larger instruments or several instruments are to be transported. Recorder ensemble leaders will agree with us. Packaging and accessories The model is supplied as standard with a bag and the following accessories: grease tin, cleaning rod, fingering chart Hygiene tips If the instrument is shared, it is advisable to sterilise the headjoint if necessary to ensure hygienic safety. The care product Flautisept has proven to be effective for this purpose. Flautisept is available in our collection.

Mjo subbass recorder, black, made of RESONA
The Renaissance The Renaissance put people at the centre of attention. Ancient art was rediscovered and "revitalised". The feeling of being a free individual and an independent force triggered a wave of great inventions. Starting in northern Italy, artists and scholars influenced people's attitude to life with innovative works. The collection of the Accademia Filarmonica di Verona contains an exceptionally good Renaissance sub-bass recorder from this period. We have chosen this as our model. The personality of Mjo Mjo is not just a sub-bass recorder. Mjo is an impressive personality who quickly makes new friends in any ensemble. With its slender stature, it always cuts a fine figure in the rehearsal room and on stage. Mjo can be safely placed on the stand included in the scope of delivery. You don't have to hold the instrument constantly, as Mjo is already tall at 2.12 metres and can stand on its own. As the stand can be firmly attached to the instrument, you can easily and safely put Mjo to one side with one hand during breaks in playing. The innovative Mjo Mjo goes its own way. It resolves the apparent inseparability of powerful sound and physical weight with its own lightness. With its - including stand ! 3200 g including the stand, it sets new standards in bass recorder construction. Mjo also takes your feelings into consideration. Its blowing tube is angled at 95° at the lower end so that all condensation is collected in the drip cup. Sometimes it's the little things that make a big difference. Let the world resound anew - with Mjo! The instrument The sub-bass recorder in F was built by the Bassano family of instrument makers. The instruments in the collection of the Accademia Filarmonica di Verona were already highly prized in Renaissance times and were lent out by many court chapels for special occasions. In our revision, we have placed great emphasis on producing a sub-bass recorder with which many ensembles can finally fulfil their long dream of a deep Renaissance bass. In addition, we have drawn on our experience in the manufacture of large bass recorders to ensure that transport and handling can take place in an unprecedented way. The instrument weighs only 5.6 kg with bag. As a special feature, Mjo is supplied with two mouthpieces. This means you have a personal mouthpiece and a guest mouthpiece. Should you ever want to have Mjo played by someone else. You can easily distinguish between the two mouthpieces using the ring notches. As in the Renaissance, Mjo puts you, the person, at the centre. Fingering The instrument is played with Renaissance fingering. Material Mjo is made of RESONA, a material developed from renewable raw materials. The sound is associated by many musicians with the sound of cherry wood.
