Subcontrabass recorder "Direct-Blow", Master, black lacquered, Paetzold by Kunath
surface treatment: Black lacquered
General information The recorder from the MASTER series with the article number: 489DB-AS manufactured by Paetzold by Kunath is an instrument that always gives pleasure when playing. This is due to the clever combination of the carefully considered model design in symbiosis with the tone colours of the birch plywood used. This material is strikingly pleasing to the ear thanks to its typical advantages. The special features can best be described with the following words: Wooden and warm. The scale The inner bore of the instrument is cylindrical and wider. This type of bore gives the model its typical sound. In principle, instruments with a wider bore sound warmer, fuller, more fundamental and therefore more suitable for ensembles than recorders with a narrower inner bore. What styles of music can the recorder be used for? Birch plywood is predestined for instruments that are used in ensembles, in choral playing and as solo instruments. Who is the instrument aimed at? The above facts show that birch plywood recorders are particularly suitable for beginners. An additional rule of thumb to bear in mind is that a higher-quality instrument naturally makes it easier to make music than a poor-quality one. The windway of a recorder The windway is the area in the recorder head where the musician's blowing air is moulded into a sheet of air. This air blade is the nucleus of a recorder's sound. In interaction with the labium, the vibration that generates the flute sound is created from this air blade. The shape of the windway is therefore one of the defining principles for the sound and response of the instrument. The 489DB-AS instrument from Paetzold by Kunath has a windway that is straight and conical.Conically shaped windways accelerate the air more than cylindrical ones. Windways are very complex in their design and many parameters are influenced by each other. Fingering The Paetzold by Kunath MASTER 489DB-AS recorder is supplied in the following fingering: Baroque fingering. Keys It is not always possible to place the tone holes in places that are easy to play with the fingers. Particularly on bass instruments, some tone holes are located in places that are impossible to reach for reasons of responsiveness. On such instruments, the instrument maker installs tuners that make playing much easier or even possible in the first place. The instrument 489DB-AS has the following keys: Paetzold full folding. This means that it can also be played by players with smaller hands. This key mechanism is unique and legally protected. Especially in Asia, these recorders are often used in youth ensembles by well-known teachers for young players. But even adult players with small hands no longer want to do without the advantages of the Paetzold full key mechanism once they have used it. Multi-piece construction The construction of a woodwind instrument strongly characterises the way in which the recorder is easy to handle in terms of ease of grip on the one hand and safe to transport on the other. This is particularly important when transporting larger or multiple instruments. Just ask veteran ensemble leaders. Packaging and accessories The instrument is supplied as standard with an optional bag/case and the following accessories: grease tin, fingering chart, care instructions Hygiene tips If the recorder is rented out frequently, we recommend that you disinfect the windway at regular intervals for your own protection. Flautisept has proven effective for cleaning. You can find Flautisept in our collection. Tips on the way to a new recorder The easiest way to find your next instrument Inform yourself in detail! Under no circumstances should you be dissuaded from trying out an instrument yourself by "generally accepted" rules such as "manufacturer xy doesn't work at all in ensembles / for professionals". Your taste is as unique as you are. Therefore, only you can decide which construction method inspires you personally. Our recommendation is therefore: play different instruments that you have never tried before. You can only gain experience.
