Die Geometrie der Innenbohrung der Blockflöte ist schwach zylindrokonisch und weit. Diese Art des Bohrungsverlaufs gibt der Blockflöte ihren typischen Klang.Prinzipiell klingen Instrumente mit weiterer Bohrung wärmer, voller, grundtöniger und damit ensemblefähiger als Modelle mit engerer Mensur.
